Nnadozie, who recently joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Paris FC, secured her nomination after stellar performances at both club and international levels. She helped Paris FC win the Coupe de France and was named the WAFCON Best Goalkeeper following Nigeria’s record-extending 10th continental title, where she kept clean sheets in four of six matches.

Madugu’s nomination stems from his impactful debut as head coach of the Super Falcons. He masterminded the WAFCON victory his first major trophy in charge and was honoured as WAFCON’s Best Coach.

Their inclusion alongside global elites marks a significant milestone for Nigerian women’s football. The awards ceremony will take place in Paris on 22 September 2025.

Editorial

We stand proud as the success of Chiamaka Nnadozie and Justin Madugu sends a powerful message: Nigerian women’s football is earning its rightful place on the world stage. When Nnadozie stood tall in goal—securing crucial clean sheets and remarkable saves she exemplified the resilience and excellence that define our game. Similarly, Madugu’s leadership, strategic nous, and motivational prowess transformed the Super Falcons into continental champions, fashioning a legacy from his very first major challenge.

We believe these nominations represent more than personal accolades; they spotlight Nigeria's growing influence in women’s football. Recognition by France Football signals global acknowledgment of our talent, dedication, and the promise we hold. It also demonstrates the power of investing in local coaching and player development. As we continue to nurture our stars, both on and off the pitch, this recognition encourages us to push boundaries further.

We will watch with anticipation in Paris, confident that these nominations echo our unwavering belief in the potential of Nigerian football’s future.
